Amazon Is Auto-Enabling 175 New FBA Export Destinations

Amazon announced on September 30 that FBA Export is expanding to more than 175 new destinations, and existing participants get them automatically over eight days unless they previously disabled specific countries or products.

The wider account update processes over 30 days. Sellers who do not currently use FBA Export will not be enrolled by this announcement.

What Changes Automatically and What Doesn't

Disabled destinations appear in the Restricted countries list and can be changed at any time. That makes this an opt-out expansion for current users rather than a program you have to join.

FBA Export lets an international buyer order an eligible product from the Amazon store where it is already listed. Amazon fulfills from existing FBA inventory and handles international delivery, customs clearance, and duties. The buyer pays international shipping and customs charges, and Amazon says sellers pay no additional program cost.

This differs from creating listings in foreign Amazon stores or moving stock abroad. North America Remote Fulfillment uses US inventory to serve Canadian and Mexican marketplace listings. FBA Export keeps the product on its originating marketplace and lets an overseas shopper buy it there.

Why “No Extra Cost” Doesn't Mean No Risk

Amazon's no-cost statement covers program charges, international shipping, and duties. It does not mean every export order is as profitable or simple as a domestic one.

Start with warranty and support. A product built around a US plug, measurement system, radio band, or English manual may be technically exportable and disappointing to a buyer elsewhere. A replacement that is cheap to send domestically becomes uneconomic across a border.

Returns need account-level confirmation. The announcement does not explain return routing, reimbursement treatment, customer concessions, or how long an exported unit stays unavailable. Do not carry domestic FBA assumptions into your contribution model.

Catalog data matters too. Country of origin, materials, safety documentation, and battery attributes all affect cross-border eligibility. Amazon identifies eligible products, but eligibility is not commercial suitability. A destination can permit a product your warranty, licensing agreement, or brand policy does not.

How to Audit Your Export Settings This Week

Open Export settings and save a dated copy of your current Restricted countries list. Export the FBA Exportable Inventory report if available, then compare it against your highest-volume and highest-risk SKUs.

For each product, check whether the listing clearly communicates voltage, dimensions, language, included accessories, and regional compatibility. Review territorial licensing agreements. If a brand partner authorized one sales region, Amazon's ability to ship elsewhere does not expand your rights.

Track exported orders separately for contacts, refunds, concessions, and return outcomes. A first sale into a country is a demand signal, not proof the destination deserves advertising or local inventory.

Geographic scope needs confirmation. The announcement appeared on a Canadian Seller Forum page, yet one seller reported the linked help page failed and another said the change did not apply to Amazon.ca. Amazon has not published the 175 destinations or the originating stores covered. Check the settings and notice tied to the marketplace where your inventory actually sits.

When Export Demand Justifies Local Inventory

FBA Export can test international demand without opening another marketplace account or pre-positioning stock. The limitation is that overseas customers face higher shipping costs and longer delivery times than local offers.

Measure destination-level conversion where data allows, plus completed-order contribution, refund rate, and customer questions. If one country produces repeat demand, compare three options: stay on FBA Export, create a local marketplace listing through remote fulfillment, or import inventory into that market.

Do not jump from one export order to a pallet abroad. Local inventory improves delivery speed and conversion, but it introduces tax, compliance, forecasting, and stranded-stock exposure.

Review Restricted countries before the eight-day window closes.
