Amazon Is Adding Freight Labels to Buy Shipping in October

Amazon told sellers at Accelerate that less-than-truckload labels will become available through Buy Shipping in October. Sellers can purchase them in Seller Central or supported third-party shipping software using Amazon's negotiated rates.

For anyone shipping furniture, exercise equipment, or large commercial products, this moves freight purchasing next to the order and adds the late-delivery protection Amazon associates with Buy Shipping.

What Launches in October vs. 2027

Three announcements from Accelerate are easy to blend together, and only one is imminent.

LTL label purchasing through Buy Shipping is the October feature. Amazon says sellers get negotiated rates plus protection from late deliveries.

Regional delivery pricing is planned for early 2027, letting sellers charge different shipping fees by region instead of one nationwide amount. Amazon also plans to connect sellers with local carriers offering same-day or next-day delivery within 100 miles of a seller's warehouse.

Those later tools are not live in October. Do not reprice a nationwide catalog or promise local delivery until your account shows the feature and its terms.

Amazon has not published a universal activation date, carrier list, full rate card, or accessorial schedule.

Why an LTL Quote Isn't Your Final Cost

Small-parcel labels usually show a price close to the actual charge, subject to measurement corrections. LTL carries more operational conditions.

Ask whether the rate includes liftgate service, residential delivery, delivery appointments, limited-access locations, inside delivery, storage, redelivery, detention, and return freight. Confirm the freight class, pallet count, dimensions, weight, and declared value used for the quote.

A low base rate loses quickly when a shipment needs two services that were not in the original inputs.

The same applies when comparing Amazon's negotiated price against your carrier or broker contract. Hold shipment facts constant and compare the full invoice, claims process, pickup reliability, transit commitment, and customer experience.

The principle from using your own carrier rates in Buy Shipping carries over: compare actual shipments before changing your default workflow.

What Late-Delivery Protection Requires

Amazon says LTL labels purchased through Buy Shipping receive protection from late deliveries. Do not assume every delay, damage claim, or missed appointment is covered.

Save the label record, quoted service, pickup acceptance, tracking events, delivery appointment, and buyer communications for each test order. If a metric or claim is affected, your evidence needs to show the order followed Amazon's required process and the carrier received the shipment on time.

Ask whether protection depends on a scan deadline, pickup method, approved carrier, promised-delivery setting, or use of Amazon's automated shipping tools. Preserve the live terms available when you buy the label.

Heavy-package economics also shift during peak. The separate 2026 bulky-package and holiday fee layers are a reminder to keep fulfillment fees, shipping charges, and accessorials on different lines.

How to Run a Controlled Freight Comparison

Select five to ten representative orders rather than moving every bulky SKU at once. Include a mix of distances, business and residential destinations, and shipments that typically require appointments or liftgates.

For each order, record Amazon's quote, your incumbent quote, final invoice, transit time, damage outcome, customer contact, and contribution. If Amazon's rate is lower but the workflow produces more missed appointments or claim friction, that operational cost belongs in the comparison.

Review your buyer-facing shipping charge separately. A cheaper label does not update a fixed shipping price, free-shipping threshold, or external pricing sheet. Regional pricing may address that in 2027, but it is not the October feature.
