TikTok Shop Opens EU-UK Selling, and You Handle the Shipping Yourself
TikTok Shop is connecting its European and UK marketplaces in both directions. A pilot for selected sellers starts September 21, with full rollout on October 19. Sellers in eight EU countries gain access to UK buyers, while UK sellers reach 12 EU markets through a single account.
For EU sellers shipping into the UK, TikTok's own description of the arrangement is refreshingly direct: “You pick the courier, you pay the courier, and you handle the customer if the delivery goes wrong.”
The Two Directions Work Differently
This isn't one program. It's two, with meaningfully different terms.
EU sellers into the UK get one shipping option: Ship by Seller. You arrange your own courier, absorb the cost, and own after-sales service including returns and delivery failures. Eligible countries are Belgium, Germany, France, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, and Spain.
UK sellers into the EU use Sell Across EU, listing into 12 countries from one UK account: Germany, Italy, France, Spain, Poland, the Netherlands, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Austria, Greece, Portugal, and Hungary. TikTok describes this as including cross-border logistics support, a different proposition than the EU-to-UK path.
Both directions require an active local shop, an account in good standing with recent sales, and no significant negative balance. Eligibility runs on a real-time assessment rather than an application you submit.
What TikTok Hasn't Published
Three gaps matter before you plan around this.
Commission rates for cross-border EU sales haven't been announced. UK sellers currently pay 5% on annual sales under £10,000, rising to 7% above that, but whether those rates carry over is unstated.
Returns and dispute handling across 12 markets hasn't been detailed either. That's a significant omission given return logistics vary by country and EU consumer protection law differs from UK rules.
TikTok also hasn't confirmed whether Sell Across EU will extend to EU-based sellers or expand beyond the initial twelve countries.
The Complexity Doesn't Disappear, It Moves
TikTok's pitch is collapsing multiple VAT registrations and local entity arrangements into one account. That's genuinely valuable if it works.
But cross-border VAT obligations, country-specific consumer protection law, and local return logistics still exist. Abstracting them from your view shifts them onto TikTok's infrastructure rather than eliminating them. Until TikTok publishes how returns and disputes actually function across all twelve markets, you're trusting a system whose failure modes haven't been described.
Why TikTok Is Moving Now
The target is Amazon's Pan-European FBA, which has offered multi-country EU fulfillment from a single seller account since 2015. TikTok Shop entered the UK in 2023 and has grown to an estimated 200,000 active UK sellers.
The platform's European footprint expanded fast this year. TikTok Shop launched in Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Poland on June 15, reaching ten European markets. Daily GMV across existing European markets grew at triple-digit rates between August 2025 and February 2026.
This also arrives as Amazon added the Netherlands as a mandatory Pan-EU FBA market and prepares to add Belgium in February 2027. Both platforms are pushing sellers toward broader European coverage at the same time, with different mechanics.
What to Do Before October 19
If you're a UK seller, the twelve-market expansion is the more attractive side of this arrangement, since TikTok handles more of the logistics layer. Confirm your account health now, since eligibility is assessed in real time rather than through an application you can appeal.
If you're an EU seller eyeing the UK, price the shipping honestly before listing anything. Ship by Seller means courier costs, customs paperwork, and return handling all sit with you, and UK returns from continental Europe are expensive enough to erase margin on lower-priced items. Run the numbers on your actual products rather than assuming the channel access is worth it by default.
Timing is worth noting too. The full rollout lands October 19, weeks before peak season, which means your first real test of this cross-border setup happens during your busiest and least forgiving period. TikTok Shop's fulfillment requirements have tightened considerably over the past year, and a cross-border delivery failure during Q4 carries the same account health consequences as a domestic one.
