Walmart Cut the Walmart+ Badge Qualification Window in Half
Walmart shortened the performance lookback period for its Walmart+ badge from 30 days to 14, according to a September 9 release note. Seller-fulfilled listings can now qualify by meeting Seller Performance Standards with an On-Time Delivery Rate above 90% and a Cancellation Rate below 2.5% over a two-week window rather than a full month.
Walmart's framing is that the change recognizes reliable performance sooner. The practical effect is that recovery from a bad stretch now takes half as long.
Why the Shorter Window Matters
Under a 30-day lookback, a single rough week, a carrier failure, a stockout that forced cancellations, a holiday backlog, could suppress your badge eligibility for a month even after operations returned to normal. That's a long time to lose the conversion lift the badge provides on a listing.
At 14 days, the same recovery takes two weeks. New sellers reaching the threshold also qualify faster, and sellers testing a change to their carrier mix or handling process see the result sooner.
The tradeoff runs both directions. A shorter window also means a bad two weeks drops you out faster than it would have before.
The Requirements That Didn't Change
The thresholds themselves are unchanged. You need OTD above 90% and cancellation rate below 2.5%, alongside Walmart's broader Seller Performance Standards. Sellers also need at least 100 fulfilled orders in the past 90 days to enroll.
The product-level requirement is the one that tightened earlier this year. In April, Walmart cut the delivery promise for seller-fulfilled badge eligibility from three calendar days to two. Listings still running a three-day promise lost the badge unless they tightened handling time or changed carriers. When a listing meets the two-day promise, Walmart automatically applies free shipping and the badge, setting the customer-facing shipping price to zero.
A Second September Change Worth Pairing With This
Walmart also announced on September 4 that eligible Pro, Rising, and Advanced sellers can get up to 15% off 3-day and up to 35% off 2-day Ship with Walmart labels when shipping speed matches the delivery promise.
Those two changes work together. The badge requires a two-day promise. The label discount specifically rewards two-day shipping at up to 35% off. If the freight cost of moving from a three-day to a two-day promise was what kept you out of badge eligibility, that math just changed.
What to Do
Check your current OTD and cancellation rates in the Performance dashboard against the 14-day window rather than the 30-day view you're used to. If you were close to the threshold and gave up on qualifying, the shorter window may put it back within reach this month rather than next.
If you're running three-day delivery promises on seller-fulfilled listings, price out what two-day would cost with the tiered label discount applied. Badge eligibility plus Walmart's broader push to close the gap with Amazon on delivery speed means the conversion gap between badged and unbadged listings is likely to widen, not shrink, heading into Q4.
