Amazon Will Now Manage Your Walmart and TikTok Sales For You

Amazon announced multichannel selling tools at its Accelerate conference on September 24, letting sellers connect their eBay, Shopify, TikTok Shop, and Walmart accounts and manage listings, orders, and profitability from inside Seller Central. The rollout is gradual, US-only, and free.

Amazon's framing is that it wants sellers to succeed “no matter where they sell, in Amazon's store or anywhere else.”

The more useful way to read it: Amazon is moving from owning one channel to owning the workflow across all of them.

What the Tools Actually Do

At launch, sellers can connect accounts on the other platforms, import and link listings, view all orders in one place, and fulfill across channels. Amazon says more capabilities and more channels are coming.

The stated problem is real. The same product typically lives as separate listings on Amazon, a seller's own site, Shopify, eBay, Walmart, and TikTok, each with its own dashboard, rules, and blind spots. Amazon cites that more than 95% of its independent sellers already sell across multiple channels.

Amazon also announced at Accelerate that US merchants using Multi-Channel Fulfillment can now offer Prime delivery on off-Amazon orders.

The Reversal This Represents

Five years ago Amazon was the obstacle to multichannel selling. FBA charged more to ship off-Amazon orders. Unbranded packaging was still in beta. Products priced lower elsewhere could be suppressed, which remains true today.

The sequence since then has been steady. Buy with Prime brought Amazon checkout and fulfillment to independent websites. MCF added integrations with Walmart, Shopify, and SHEIN. Amazon Warehousing and Distribution stores bulk inventory and restocks other channels.

This is the same pattern EcomCrew documented in how Amazon quietly replaced third-party seller tools, where survey data showed 60% of sellers no longer using repricing software, up from 33% in 2021. Amazon absorbed the tooling layer inside its own ecosystem. Now it's extending that absorption to competitors' platforms.

The Data Question Amazon Hasn't Answered

GeekWire, reporting from the conference, raised the obvious concern: what does Amazon do with data from a seller's business on rival platforms?

Amazon has a documented history of using third-party seller data to inform its own private label decisions, which is part of what the FTC's antitrust case addresses. Connecting your Walmart and TikTok Shop performance into Seller Central hands Amazon visibility into how your products perform where it doesn't currently compete for the sale.

Amazon hasn't published terms governing how connected channel data gets used. That's the question to ask before connecting anything.

Why Amazon Can Afford to Help Competitors

The economics work even if sellers grow elsewhere. An MCF order from Walmart is Amazon revenue generated by Walmart's customer. But the multichannel tools are free and function whether or not you ship through Amazon, so fulfillment revenue isn't the whole rationale.

PYMNTS framed the strategic logic clearly: Amazon is moving from owning the transaction to owning the merchant workflow. An AI agent that sees only Amazon sales has an incomplete picture of a multichannel seller. One that sees activity across Amazon, Walmart, Shopify, TikTok, and eBay has far richer context for identifying demand, inventory, and profitability patterns.

That connects to the other Accelerate announcement: Seller Assistant is shifting from answering questions to running always-on workflows for restocking, pricing, and account health monitoring. An operating layer with cross-channel visibility is considerably more capable than one confined to a single marketplace.

What to Weigh Before Connecting

The operational benefit is genuine. Consolidating order management across five platforms saves real time, and Amazon isn't charging for it.

The tradeoff is that reducing Amazon dependence is the reason most sellers diversify in the first place. Running your other channels through Amazon's software means the diversification exists at the sales layer while the operational dependency consolidates.

If you connect, do it selectively. Start with one channel rather than all four, and keep your own records of cross-channel performance outside Seller Central so the data relationship isn't one-directional. The tools are free, which means the cost is somewhere other than the invoice.
